Separating components
Mercury and NORM waste that is generated as a result of gas or geothermal exploitation requires decontamination to avoid bringing these into our environment. By separating the components present in sludges, only the hazardous components require final storage where the non-hazardous components can be re-used.
Collecting mercury-containing objects
In addition to the prevention from getting hazardous mercury and NORM waste into our environment, BMT is helping waste collectors collect as many mercury-containing objects as possible out of the environment. Products like barometers and thermometers containing mercury should be removed safely from our environment as there is no longer need to use these hazardous goods. Waste collectors bring these type of objects to BMT who shreds them and treats them to remove all mercury safely. The non-hazardous residues are reused by thermal energy production.
